Comings and Goings

It is a bitter sweet goodbye and welcome this week. We say “Seeya later” to Dr Georgie Mills and Dr Jessica Lawson, two of the most beautiful Doctors your likely to Meet.

Dr Georgie will be moving to Kangaroo Island and Joining a practice overrun with male GPs – providing much needed medical support to the female patients of KI. We hold onto every hope Dr Georgie will be back one day – but until then, we wish her well in her adventures!

Dr Jess has settled into a medical practice in Mount Barker – the lucky thing managed to score a Job with no on call or local hospital requirements – which for some are a deal breaker for Port Lincoln placements. On call can be onerous and the lack of sleep can be significantly disruptive to our GPs wellbeing. One day Port Lincoln will have much needed support for our on call system & we hope to entice Dr Jess back with the offer of NO on call!

We still frequently are in touch with all of our previous registrars – if your ever stuck in Adelaide & in need of a GP,  Dr Emily Carrol has now her own medical practice, Pear Tree Family Practice, in Glenelg – always happy to help the BBFHP family out! & if your close to the freeway,  we can direct you to Dr Jared who practices in the foot hills.

Whilst its always hard to say goodbye – the opportunity to meet and teach new GPs is so exciting... this year we welcomed three amazing people to the BBFHP line up of awesome Doctors!

Meet Dr Amelia, Dr Chris and Dr Lauren, you can read more about them in Our Doctor's.

The Interview process started a little rocky, and after second round interviews - We couldn’t have been luckier to land what we think have to be top of the 2018 class of registrars! They have quickly found their feet & growing more and more confident in their abilities every day and we certainly have been impressed from day one.

Dr Chris and Dr Lauren both have obstetric & gynaecology shared health certificates providing Kris support in antenatal and postnatal care. Dr Chris was a qualified physio in a previous life, Dr Lauren has a keen interest in women's Health, and Dr Amelia has recent palliative care experience and a lovely bedside manner. They are all fantastic, making a wrong choice of who to pick to see for an appointment impossible.

You can book an appointment with our new GPs, Dr Janssen or with our midwives at Hotdoc online booking services, just follow the link. Due to workload, Dr Kris requires appointment requests via our reception staff.

Please make our new Doctors feel welcome and cherished!
